Desert Mountains

Stones in the Desert...Eterno: An Immigrant's Story by Corey Ranson

3 F, 7M

This play takes place far south, as immigrants crossing the Texas/Mexico border meet on the United States side and discover the complex and dire situation that the vast brush desert land has to offer.

The play follows six immigrants who accidently come together after crossing the border into the United States. After their chance meeting, they learn from each other the true meaning of the people and the lives of those who have gone before them.

The characters soon realize how close together they all truly are and that getting across the border was the easy part. Along with encounters from Border Patrol and a somewhat small group of a drug cartel gang, they start to discover the answers to the questions of their own existence.

The style of this play, while realistic, explores the sensitivities of the spirits that reside in the desert from immigrants who never made it out, using elements of magical realism and dream sequences.
